AbstractTheurbanconstruction ofchina hascomeintoa high speed developing periodalongwiththeeconomicdevelopment.Thecity`sappearancehaschanged rapidlyandenormously.Thechangebringsusprogress.Atthesametime,italso makesthecitylostitsregionalculturecharacteristics.Hulunberiswherethe Mongolianoriginatedfrom,itistheonlylocationwhichthreeminoritiesof Oroqen,EwenkiandDaurinhabitedin.Duetothelackofoverallplanningand control,mostoftheurbanbuildingshavebeenconstructedwiththeidentical technology.Ithasexposedthatthecityhaslosesitsminorityculture.People havebeguntoawareoftheimportanceoftheurbanarchitecturalstyle.From 2001,HulunBeiergovernmenthadtransformedsomebuildingfacetandsomeof thestreets.Butitdoesnottotallyshowthenationalcharacteristics.The architecturestyleisstillnotclear.Also,theconsiderationtotheprotectionof architectureisnotenoughandotherproblemsstillexist.ThepapermakesarchitecturalstyleofHulunBeierasthestudyobject. Firstly,itanalysesthecitysarchitecturalcharacteristicsanditshistorical evolutionandexistingproblems.Itstartswithstudyingthefourminorities` culturalconnotation,andthenestablishingandthemacro-developmentobjectives ofbuildingacitywithgrasslandcustoms.Secondly,basedontheexisting ethnicalstyle building distribution, we plotted the four ethnicstyle into four furthercontrolstylelevelsincludinglimitationdistrict,controldistrict, developmentdistrictandcoordinationdistrict.Also,wediscussedaboutthe conceptsofwatersegmentation,plantsinducement,thelocationcontrol,andthe methodofarchitecturerebuildingfortheareaofstyle-intersection.Finally,the projectdescribedhowthenationalcultureusedinthearchitecturedesigningin forms of shapemetaphors,conceptionresearch, symbolscharacterization.
