The Quarrel between Wind and Thunder

【Objectives】
1. Ss can master the following key words and phrases: trim, rumble, fury, stomp, crash, boom, neat, bloom, parched, shrink, heal, growl, grumble, roar, sprout, after all …
2. Ss can enjoy the beauty of literature,especially the usage of personification, such as “He growled and grumbled and roared as he went, so that the clouds grew dark, and the rain rained down.”, “He stomped away, crashing and booming all the way up the sky.”
3. Ss can master the usage of some sentence patterns,such as “How proud of it I am!”, “Thunder was so angry that he could not listen to any more of…”
4. Ss can learn some reading skills like skimming, scanning and catching the key words.
5. Ss can learn to read between lines and use this reading skill in their daily life.
6. Ss can learn to analyze the feature of the characters. Besides, they can learn to judge their actions.
7. Ss can learn to talk about and understand the moral of the fable, like “Everyone has its price.”, “Everyone has his strong points and weak points.”, “Working together with others can make work easier.” Also, they can learn to work with their classmates or others in their daily life.
【Difficulties and Important Points】
1. Its difficult for Ss to know so many new words in the story. Some of them may have difficulties in understanding the passage.
2. It’s important for Ss to learn the reading skills and understand the moral of the fable.
【Teaching Procedures】
Step One: Leading in the strategy
Greet the students

Step Two?: Pre-reading
1. Get the students to play a guessing game.
A: Wind
We can’t see it, but we can feel it.
It is strong, so it takes down the trees.
It can blow, blow and blow.
T: What is it?
B: Thunder
We can’t see it, but we can hear it.
It is loud, so people are afraid of it.
It can growl, grumble and roar,
2. Show the picture and lead in the new word “quarrel” and the title of the story
