AbstractIn recent years, with the great development of the city size and population, the demand to transportation is increasing day by day. As the representative capacity of the large modern traffic tools, the urban rail transit has been adopted in a number of large and medium-sized cities in our country. How to upgrade the construction level, improve theenergy utilization and decrease the operating costs,in order to meet the demand oflow-carbon economy and energy saving become the core purposes of the research to the urban rail transit.Presently, regenerative braking technology is generally used in urban rail trains. If the regenerative braking energy cannot be absorbed promptly, it would lead a voltage rise to the traction network, which will affect the safety of the power system and the trains. In order to improve the utilization of regenerative braking energy, and ensure the safety of the trains, this paper analyzed the characteristics of regenerative braking energy, and gave a research on different kinds of regenerative braking energy absorption solutions. We focused on the energy consumption mode and regenerative energy storage mode, and based on this we improve the regenerative energy storage scheme.Firstly, the principle of urban rail transit regenerative braking energy is analyzed, the characteristics of the regenerative braking energy is introduced. Also the SVPWM speed control method which is mostly applied to control the speed of the train in urban rail is introduced. According to the characteristics of the regenerative braking process and by using this control method, we established the simulation model of urban rail traction. Thus, we analyzed the characteristics of regenerative braking energy and the impact of different train density to the traction network voltage by simulation.Secondly, the regenerative braking technologies of resistance-type, storage-type and inverter feedback-type are analyzed and compared.
