The paper introduces the smi u- lation of a single pick loadbymeans of ATLAB and finite element analysis of the pick and its holderby using ofANSYS. The results show that forces on a singlepick changew ith the thickness of chip, and all forces reachemaxmi umwhen the position angle reaches/2. The largestpick deformation occurs in parts of toolbitand thebiggest tooth holderdeformation occurs in the frontofholder. The results show that the propermeasures can reduces the damage of pick and holder and prolongs its life.
