的敏感度，从而有助于在日常交际中建立良好的人际关系，构建一个和谐的社会。关键词：《坎特伯雷故事集》，冒犯语，言语行为理论，言内行为，言外行为，言后行为AbstractGeoffreyChaucerisoneofthegreatestpoetsinEnglishliterature.TheCanterburyTalesisthemostimportantworkofChaucer,whichwonhimthenameofFatherofEnglishPoetry.Theamplyusedoffensivelanguagedemonstrateshislanguagewritingstyleofthiswork.Thepreviousstudiesweremostlyconductedinthefieldsofliterature,stylisticsandsociology.Fewareinvolvedinpragmatics.ThisdissertationistentativetoinvestigatetheoffensivelanguageinCanterburyTalesfromtheperspectiveofpragmaticsbyselectingoffensivelanguagefromitascorpus.Thisdissertationiscomposedoffivechapters.Thefirstchapteroffersageneralintroductionofthepurpose,significance,researchmethodologyandstructureofthedissertation.Thesecondchapterisliteraturereview,whichisdevotedtodefiningoffensivelanguageandsummarizingpreviousstudiesonoffensivelanguageandCanterburyTalesabroadandathome.Thethirdchapteristheoreticalframework,inwhichthreelevelsofAustinsSpeechActTheory(SAT):locutionaryact,illocutionaryforceandperlocutionaryeffectareelaboratelyexpoundedonebyone.ThentherelationshipbetweenSATandoffensivelanguageisfurtherexplained.Thefourthchapteristhemainbodyofthisdissertation.BasedonAustinsSpeechActTheory,thischapterelaboratestheoffensivelanguageselectedfromCanterburyTalesatlevelsoflocution,illocutionandperlocution.Andthewaythatspeakersintentionsareconveyedatillocutionarylevelbyusingoffensivelanguageisthecoreofthischapter.ChapterFiveconcludessomefindingsoftheresearch,andputsforwardlimitationsofthepresentstudyandsuggestionsforfurtherstudies.Basedontheprecedingresearch,itcanbefoundthatattheleveloflocutionaryact,theoffensivelanguagecanbeunderstoodfromitsliteralmeaning,declarativesentenceandrhetoricalsentence;theillocutionaryforceexplainsthatthespeakercanconveysuchintentionstothehearerindifferentcontextsasinsulting,cursing,threatening,venting,warning,etc;theperlocutionaryeffectaccountsforhearersthreedifferentresponsestooffensivelanguage,namely,noresponse,expectantresponseandexcessiverespons
