AbstractWith the development of world economy and frequent exchanges between countries, English has become the communication bridge among different people. English writing as one of the most important skills for second language learners also has a large proportion in the new English curriculum standard. So English writing is a great challenge for both teachers and students in the senior high school now. In recent years, both teachers and students have done a lot of work to improve English writing ability. However, the result of these efforts seems far from satisfactory. The author starts from the perspective of teachers’ written feedback in the thesis, and she tries to find out the influence of it on students’ writing ability. At the same time, the author makes an attempt to find students’ attitude to written feedback through investigation such as interview in order to improve their writing ability. It is hoped that this study can provide some enlightenments and help for teachers and students in writing teaching and learning.In addition, teachers are not directors any more in the classroom. Instead, they are mediators to help students reach a higher level according to Vygotsky’s and Feuerstein’s theories. The theories are applicable in the English writing teaching. Teachers mediated the written feedback types to teach learners how to learn, to arouse their interest and enhance their confidence in the writing.Participants of this study are selected from No. 11 senior high school. And the two students in the case study are in Grade Two. According to the nearly five-monthresearch, the author hopes to prove the influence of teachers’ written feedback on students’ writing ability and proper written feedback can improve students’ writing ability.
