The zone from Hekou Town of Mongolia to Mengjin of Henan Province is the middle reaches of the Yellow River, passing through the loess plateau, while that from Jinshan Canyon to longmen is gorge, the basement is mostly consisted of stone, on which few sand and mud has deposited, so the current is swift. Hukou Waterfall Hukou is just located at the section of the river course.
