Indeed, it gives me great pleasure to address the distinguished participants of this forum. // (5%) This event is dedicated to the Chinese business community. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Chinese enterprises and entrepreneurs for making such an impact in China, the region and the world with their competitiveness, resilience and vision. Today, they are major players in mercantile and industrial activities almost anywhere. More importantly, they will be a significant force in the global economy of the future. // (20%) Let me share my thoughts on what is happening in ASEAN and China economic relations and how the two sides can work more closely together in the economic field. // (5%) First, we should look at the bigger picture. Today, Asia is the fastest growing region in the world. Asia has some of the world’s most dynamic economies, including Viet Nam, India, and of course, China. The World Bank’s projection of Asia’s GDP growth is about 5.7% this year. // (10%) China’s exports are growing rapidly, but so are its imports. China is a big importer of resource-based commodities, intermediate goods and finished manufactured products from the rest of the world.
