However, they put much emphasis on the importance of co-text in interpreting, and ignore the specific impact of the context of culture and the context of situation. This thesis has tried to apply the concept of context to the interpreting in Premier Li’s press conferences and study the influence of context in interpreting. Firstly the thesis reviews the concept of context about systemic functional linguistics. There are three strata in context, which contains context of culture, context of situation and co-text. And co-text is the reflection of context of culture, context of situation. Then the thesis explores the characteristics of Premier Li’s press conferences and proves that with typical examples. After that, the thesis research the application of the concept of context to Premier Li’s press conferences interpreting. At the end, the study draws an conclusion that the interpreter needs abundant cultural knowledge for that conferences, such as history knowledge, literary knowledge and so on.
