In the south, the open prairies gradually rise to meet the Rocky Mountains along the border. Sone of the worlds most popular tourist destinations, such as Banff National Park(班芙国家公园）and Jasper National Park are in this part of the mountains.;;;Saskatchewan;Manitoba is the oldest of the prairie provinces. Like Saskatchewan, its landscape has few prairie features. More than 50 percent of the land area is forested. Winnipeg, its capital, is a leading transportation centre because of its strategic location between east and west.;The two provinces of Ontario and Queebec are called Central Canada mainly because, historically, they have been the political and economic centre of the country. This region is also the most densely-populated and most industrialized area of Canada, particularly in the south around the Great Lakes and St Lawrence River.
