But the brothers realized that there were things they didn’t know. “Why don’t you and I take turns travelling?” said William to Charles. “One of us can stay and look after our patients. The other can visit the best hospitals and doctors in the world. That way we can keep learning and be better doctors.” From that time on, the Mayos traveled the world. The brothers published over 1,000 papers in medical magazines and attended almost all the big meetings of doctors. “One nice thing about sharing knowledge is that after you give it to someone else, you still have it.” Charles once said.
