新人教版高中英语选修八第二单元 Mayo Clinic(梅奥医院)阅读课说课 说课人:* * * 说课时间:2018.6.14 文章再现 Two young brothers William and Charles Mayo lived in Rochester, Minnesota. Their father was a country doctor, and they loved to ride with him when he made calls. When they grew up, both graduated from medical college. One summer day, a tornado whirled into(席卷)Rochester and caused many deaths. To save the injured people, the Mayos turned the town hall into an emergency hospital. “We need a hospital,” said someone when the tragedy ended. “We’ll raise the money and build the hospital if you all with be the doctors.” After the hospital opened, the three Mayo doctors helped even more people. Soon people and even doctors were coming from all over. Mirrors were put over the operating tables so the visiting doctors could watch. More and more people came to Mayo Clinic. They also helped the poor people who were sick. As many as one third of their patients were surprised to find PAID IN FULL written on their bills. Also, on one was ever charged more than 10 percent of his income even if his treatment was very expensive. And every dollar collected on bills over $1,000 went to help other sick people. Even though the Mayo brothers were successful, they were never interested in fame. Whenever one of them was singled out for an honor, he would begin to accept the honor with the same four words, “My brother and I …” 文章再现 Main Cont
