AbstractRestlesslegssyndrome(RLS)isacommonneurologicaldisordercharacterizedbyanurgetomovethelimbs,andisusuallyaccompaniedbyuncomfortablesensationsthatworsenwithrest,improvewithmovement,andareworseintheeveningornight.Itcanimpairsleepandadverselyaffectshealthandqualityoflife.EpidemiologicalstudiesofRLSrevealedaprevalencerateof5%-24%inCaucasianpopulations,whichismuchhigherthantherateinAsianandAfricanpopulations(0.1%-3.9%),suggestingapossibleroleforethnicfactorsintheoccurrenceofRLS.Furthermore,RLSistwicemorecommoninfemalesthaninmales.RLSisassociatedwithapositivefamilyhistoryin45%to65%ofpatientsand
