Mao）合译的《围城》英文版（Fortress Besieged）为语料，采取对比、例证、列举、描述、以及综合法分析了英汉两种语言的衔接手段，尤 其是词汇衔接的异同，并试图解释造成异同背后的语言深层次的原因，对英语学 习中的翻译和写作进行了有益的探索。本文共分六个部分：第一部分是简介，主要介绍选题的意义，背景及研究 方法等；第二部分是文献综述，主要介绍国内外学者对语篇衔接研究的现状； 第 三部分是对语料进行分析，主要介绍《围城》中出现的词汇衔接现象；第四部分 是对《围城》及其英译本进行对比分析，从而得出汉英两种语言在词汇衔接手段 上的异同；第五部分是用前文分析所得出的启示对非母语学生学习英语翻译、写 作方面的指导和建议。第六部分是总结。关键词：语篇衔接；词汇衔接；翻译；写作VA Comparative Study of Lexical Cohesion and Its Application in English Language Learning——Based on “Fortress Besieged” and Its English VersionAbstract：Cohesion and coherence are two basic concepts in text/ discourse analysis. This thesis, based on Halliday Hasan’s theory of cohesion, takes the “Fortress Besieged” (originally written by Ch’ien Chung Shu) and its English version (translatedby Jeanne Kelly and Nathan K Mao) as an important source in the analysis of the differences and similarities of cohesive devices in both Chinese and English languages. In the process, methods like comparison, exemplification, listing, description and synthesis are used in an attempt to discover and interpret the deeper reasons behind and to provide evidences for translation and writing in English learning.This thesis consists of six parts.
