HolmesAs we all know, Holmes is a detective novel, which always attracts readers to read right straight from the beginning to the end. Of course, that is just the required feature of all the same type of works. When we think of a detective, we think first of Sherlock Holmes. Even now, more than a hundred years after the first story about him, he is still considered the greatest detective of all. There’re thousands of detective novels out there in the world, so why Holmes become classic. Sherlock Holmes is logic and dramatic, so are the whole stories. He’s a legend, a hero of the left time.But, I’d say, when I read it, I always feel it is strange, every story, totally. Sometimes it is even ridiculous. It can’t make people convinced, and believed it’s real, which the writer tried to. The plots seem natural, but actually they don’t make sense at all. Holmes just used all the personal thoughts and reasoning to solve all the nuts all by himself. He hardly needs others’ help in his investigation. The successes are all his. Besides, more seriously, all the explains and the reasons and the details just break out all of a sudden always by one man with little clues showed us before. Is this man too great, too unbelievable; too incredible? The stories are awesome, but is it necessary to be over-mysterious to make it? To be simple, Conan should at lease leave us some normal clues and evidence. It seems that all the things, all the thoughts and all the processes of reasoning are just in two minds—Holmes and Conan’s. That’s puzzled, that’s confused, that’s not clear, sensible and reasonable at all. The writer makes readers an absolute outsider no matter how hard you tried to into it. They never share things with you. You’re always rejected. Maybe that’s related to the figure’s personality. I admit that on this planet exist all kinds of men. But in detective stories, it’s really not a good way to depict the main figure. People worship him because he’s amazing, he can solve things
