Detective Miller wanted to see him but he had no idea why. The door opened. Miller smiled and beckoned¢ú with his hand. Come in, he said, closing the door behind them. John Baker, sir. The younger man said. Yes. I know who you are. Relax, dont be so nervous! Miller replied. Sit down. Thank you, sir. Baker was worried. It was the first time that Miller had called him to his office. He sat down, hoping there was nothing wrong. Miller sat opposite him. There was silence for a few seconds. After a while, Miller cleared his throat and spoke. Listen, Baker. The head office has asked me for a list of my best men. They want to promote somebody in this office. Baker sat forward on his chair. Promotion, sir? he asked. Yes, Baker. Im thinking of giving them your name. Thank you, sir, Baker replied excitedly. Dont thank me yet. Ive heard good things about you.
