In existing studies, those about art based on newspaper are not many. This paper takes the art information in SHEN BAO at the early period of the Republic of China (1912-1927) as the object of study, collects and arranges the newspaper materials at this period, then applies such methods as literature review, statistical analysis, comparative analysis, deduction analysis and interdisciplinary approach, etc., and mainly achieves the three objectives: firstly, the types and distribution of art information in SHEN BAO at the early period of the Republic of China are analyzed through organization of the materials; secondly, through quantitative and qualitative analysis of the trading information, publishing information, activities information and character information and works in art information of SHEN BAO at the early period of the Republic of China, the characteristics of its art information are summarized; thirdly, the influence of art information in SHEN BAO to the society is discussed and analyzed. Through study of the art information in SHEN BAO at the early period of the Republic of China, the following conclusions are mainly obtained: At the early period of the Republic of China, the layout changes of SHEN BAO provide a wider space for the communication of art information.
