Snow: No sign of birds in the mountains; nor of men along the trails; nor any craft on the river but a little boat, with an old man in rustic hat and cape dangling a line in the f rigid waters—a solitary figure veiled in silent snow. Snow on the river: No singing of birds in the mountain ranges no footprint s of men on a thousand trails there is only one boat on the water with an o ld man in a straw rain cape who stands on deck and fishes by him self where the snow falls on the cold river. Snowing on the river: Not a bird o’er the hundreds of peak s, Not a man on the thousands of trails. An old angler alone in a boat, With h is rod and line, in raining outfit, Is fishing on the river midst th’snow -drift. Fishing in Snow: From hill to hill no bird in flight; From path to path no man in sight. A straw -cloak’d man in a boat, lo! Fishing on river clad in snow.
