II II Abstract With the rapid economic development, environmental pollution has become prominent increasingly, the international voice of environmental protection is more urgent, environmental pollution has had a great impact to our production and life. Many economists begin to focus on environmental issues, to study the relationship between environmental pollution and economic development, trying to find ways to solve environmental pollution. The most representative theory is the hypothesis of Environmental Kuznets inverted U-shaped curve. In this paper, based on the home and abroad research of Kuznets curve, familiar with the economic and environment condition of Xiangjiang vally, the author take use of Xiangjiang vally economic and environmental data in the year of 1991-2007 to study the relationship between them, using Kuznets curve as research tools, using Eviews software, building a quadratic function model to investigate the main pollutant emissions variation trend with the economic growth in the area of Xiangjiang vally in order to find out the shape of Kuznets curve in Xiangjiang vally and how it formationed. The result showed that: in Xiangjiang vally, environmental Kuznets curve in the emissions of industrial waste water and waste gas presents a increasing straight line, and the relationship between industrial dust emissions and economic growth had no significant correlation . That is to say, industrial waste water and waste gas emissions in Xiangjiang vally still in the rising stage, the author then puts forward the measures to abate the environment pollution, such as adjusting the industrial structure, perfectig management system, improving the environmental protection consciousness and so on as to realize the coordinated development between the economic and the environment in Xiangjiang vally.
