压缩成型(外文翻译)
Compression Molding
Compression molding is a method of molding in which the molding material, generally preheated, first placed in an open, heated mold is closed with a top force of plug member, pressure is applied to force the material into contact with all mold areas, and heat and pressure are maintained until the molding material has cured. Compression molding is a high-volume, high-pressure method suitable for molding complexm high-strength fiberglass reinforcements. The advantage of compression molding is its ability to mold large, fairly intricate parts.
Generally, in compression molding the molding material is plastic and the plastic material as poeder or preform is placed into a heated steel mold cavity. Since the parting surface is in a horizontal plane, the upper half of the mold descends vertically. It closes the mold and applies heat and pressure for a predeterminded period. A pressure of from 2 to 3 tons per square inch and a temperature at approximately 350℉ converts the plastic to a semi-liquid which flows to all parts of the mold cavity. Usually from 1 to 15 minutes is required for curing. Then the mold is opened and the part removed. If metal inserts are desired in the parts, they should be placed in the mold cavity on pins or in holes before the pastic is loaded. The preforms should be preheated before loading into the mold cavity to eliminate gases, improve flow, and decrease curing time. Thermosetting compression-molding compounds can be molded into articles of excellent rigidity and shape retention by supplying heat and pressure.
Apart from the molding material, the mold itself is of great importance. There are four types of molds for compression molding, namely, positive molds, landed positive molds, flash-type molds, and semi-positive molds. But the flash-type mold is widely used because it is comparatively easy to construct and it controls thickness and density within close limits.
A compression mold basically consists of an upper and a lower
