3. Chinese New Year
To talk about Chinese New Year with accumulated information.
Speaking
Chinese New Year is the most important of the traditional Chinese holidays. It begins on Jan. 1st and ends on Jan. 15th in the lunar calendar. It is also called the Spring Festival or Lunar New Year. There is a name for each Chinese year, and this year is the year of the horse. In , people buy presents, decoration, material, food and clothing and say “Congratulations” to one another. On New Year’s Eve, families usually have a feast together. They stay up late and end the night with firecrackers to scare a very bad monster. Early the next morning, children greet their parents by wishing them a healthy and happy new year and get money in red envelopes. What a wonderful festival it is!
