PAGE PAGE IV Abstract Erya is the symbol and foundation of science of Xungu, and is the earliest dictionary, which is the one of the Thirteen Confucian Classics, is the important scriptures of Confucian. From Erya was published, the research of Erya doesn’t stop , and become to “ Yaxue”. Erya explains a plenty of vocabulary, which touch upon various aspects. Except for the former Three, it touch upon social science and physical science, such as Shitian, Shigong, Shiqi, Shidi, to provide new thought for reseach and new object of study. It is very important to research daily life of the ancient people, that research of Erya in lexic, lexicography, ethnic and physical way. Shiqi which is the sixth of Erya, records a plenty of vocabulary that touch upon name, function of various artifacts, which is very important historical information. On the other hand, archeology makes many important discoveries and helps us understanding the ancient people daily lives to move forward a single step. Based on literatures and archeology, we can understand the ancient people daily lives. The article altogether divides four parts. The first chapter is summarize of Erya research and narrated two aspects. The first, primary coverage and academic status of Erya: it is the important scriptures of Confucian, and the research of Erya become to “Yaxue”. The second, current situation and development trend of Erya: from the East and WestHan Dynasty, Sui and Tang Dynasty, Five Dynasties, Yuan and Ming Dynasties, in the Qing Dynasty, research of Erya have formed a research climax with the development of textology. There are a lot of research findings. From the Republic of China, the angle of research has changes, and more and more scholars research the Erya in different ways. The second chapter is artifact of Erya Shiqi, which is the importance of the article.
