ABSTRACT The area of courtyard is small, but its energy consumption characteristic is similar to the large space building. So the courtyard can be treated as a special one to analyze the method of heating and cooling. For large space, stratified air conditioning technology is generally used in cooling, and the application of energy-saving effect is remarkable. But for the heating method, a lot of energy is consumed in the upper part of the building due to the buoyancy of hot air to rise. Even for sufficient heat, lower space still can not achieve the required temperature, and the application of stratified air conditioning can not get a good energy saving effect, so courtyard’s heating method is still worth discussing. Literature data show that it is inappropriate for courtyard using only hot air heating. In the reconstruction scheme, it is plan to combine hot air heating and radiant floor heating. However, the ratio of its actual heating effect distribution between them still should be to verify by some means, this paper will use numerical simulation calculations. The results show that the conjunction of side air supply and radiant floor heating systems can achieve good heating effect. With radiant floor heating system bear the greater proportion of the load, the up temperature gradually decreases, and more heat is utilized in the lower. When the sixty percent of heat is bear by the radiant floor heating system, the maximum effect of improving is achieved. Although the layered air conditioning effect is not obvious in the heating, but temperature stratification formed by the level of air supply is still advantageous to the heat load reduction. So the angle of hot air supply should be cautious to increase, preventing the destruction of this temperature stratification effect. For the issue, it can get better results when the supply air temperature is about 27 ℃, and the radiant floor heating temperature is about 30 ℃. KEY WORDS：Courtyard; Heating; radiant
