Good questioning can activate students to think , arouse the enthusiasm of students, and improve the students’ English reading skills. With the enforcement of new standard English curriculum, many English teachers did a lot of researches of questioning skills in English reading , the researches has improved English teachers ’ questioning level in a certain degree. However, there are still some teachers tend to make mistakes in the process of questioning. This paper can be divided into five parts. In the first part, this paper briefly describes the background of the functions of questioning, writing purpose, and research methods. In the second part, it summarizes the data according to the questionnaire survey and classroom observations. In the third part, It analyzes the mistakes that English teachers always made in the questioning process. In the fourth part, it puts forward some advices to solve the problems. In the fifth part, it makes a conclusion of this paper.
