Corresponding author : SUN Hong-chun, E-mail: hchsun @ mail. neu. edu. cn) Abstract: In order to improve the accurac of edd current testing of steel bar w ith small cracks and reduce the nonlinear error due to select inappropriate testing parameters, 25# steel bars w ith 01 mm crack depth w ere detected b using the edd current detector and the external probe under different frequenc and lift-off value based on experimental model, and then the phase information w as obtained. T he influences of w orking frequenc and lift-off value on the phase signals w ere studied for the edd current testing. According to the minimum principle for the average standard deviation of linear fit, the best linear section w as achieved between the detection parameters of the edd current testing signal and phase parameter, w hich raises the detection accurac of the bar w ith small cracks, and has important guiding role for choosing the edd current testing parameters of external bars.
