Scott Momaday’s House Made of Dawn, published in 1968, is the first Pulitzer Prize winner written by a Native American writer. This book tells of Abel, a lonely Indian veteran coming home from WWⅡ then falling into the trouble of losing his identity, and his mental struggle between two worldsthe traditional Indian world of his ancestors’ ancient culture and modern white world of violence and prejudice represented by Los Angles. Abel suffers both physically and psychologically. During the journey of seeking his identity, he goes through a healing process and continuous completion of his understanding of the Indian tradition, which eventually brings Abel to his mental resurrection and makes him the torchbearer of the tradition. In Abel’s healing, he undergoes three stages of mental change: from the stage of depression, to the stage of disequilibrium, then to the stage of recovery. Through the analysis of all the changes in different stages, the thesis reveals the reasons rooted in the changing cultural and social elements around him as well as the healing role of the Indian culture. Scott Momaday; Abel; mentality; Indian tradition 摘要:N·斯科特·莫马黛于1968年出版的《黎明之屋》是第一部获得普利策奖的印第安文学作品。亚伯是一个从二战退伍的孤立的印第安青年，该书讲述了他陷入了身份的迷失后挣扎于传统的印第安文化和以洛杉矶为代表的现代都市生活两个世界之间的心路历程。在自身身份的迷失和再次获得之间，他的心理状态先后经历了三个阶段的变化，即：由于身份的迷失而感到抑郁，继而开始挣扎失衡，最终随着他对传统文化理解的不断加深并在向往自由，崇尚传统和自然并且平静的传统文化的治愈下，亚伯得到了心灵的解脱和重生，回归到了印第安的文化中去，并成为传统文化的传承者。本文通过上述三个心理状态的阶段性分析，揭示了这种转变背后的印第安传统文化对于一个迷失者的引导和治愈作用。 关键词：N·斯科特·莫马黛 亚伯 心理状态分析 印第安传统文化 Introduction In beauty I walk.
