Abstract As the critical part of urban water supply system, water supply network has the characteristic of fundamentality, openness and complexity, which made it difficult for water suppliers to maintain and manage. Making sure that the water supply network function securely and reliably is the foundation of the normal life of urban residents and the sustainable development and consruction of the cities. Nowdays, the assessment of operation condition for water supply network still stays at qualitative and single index stage, lacking of quantitative systematic diagnosis methods. This paper carried out a set of health diagnosis system, which made it possible to realize the quantitative comprehensive assessment of water supply network. That diagnosis system is of great significance for the improvement of the level of the operation and management of water supplier as well as the upgrading of the networks. In this paper ， the connotation and influencing factors of water health diagnosis are elaboratec in details. The selection criteria of the indexs of the diagnosis system ara established. On this basis, considering the situation of water supply network of M city, a evaluation system which included 4 hierchies (namely object hierarchy, rule hierarchy, element hierarchy and index hierarchy) and 13 bottom indexs was established. Based on grey system theory, grey correlation degree analysis was carried out and the variation trend of the impact which different material, interface, pipe age, burial depth and diameter has on pipe accidents were confirmd.The grading criterion of was divided into 5 : health, sub-health, general pathological, moderately pathological and critical sick.
