Abstract After the 11 wOrld w缸 econOmical competitiOn amOng ∞untries all Over the wor1d inevitably leads to ∞mpetitiOn Of manpOwer development ,础a critical element ωwin. Therefore,educatiOnal reform has been paid a unprecedented attentiOn,especiall弘 curriculum ,韶山∞re of 由e reform ,becomes the center-point of the strategies of the countries and becomes the wOr1d-wide topic. British prim缸Y schOol curriculum (BPSC) finds its own way of development on the base Of its intrinsic tradition and characteristics. The experien臼 it has achieved is just what we Chinese are lack in Our curriculum. Then,study and analysis of BPSC is of great importance for Our curriculum reform. This essay analyses in a longitudinal studythe process of BPSC development and in a transverse study the goals,∞ntents,and structure of curriculum in the history,and summarlzes the characteristics,experience and lesson from the development. A∞ordingly,get some inspiratiOn for our curriculum reform. 白l?s essay is ∞mposed of six parts. Part 1 is ∞ncerned the background ,causes, aims and meaning of the research. Part 11 is a brief analysis Of elements abOut in:fluencing BPSC befOre the 11 wOrd war. Part 111 introduces postw缸 development of BPSC,and the changes Of such relevant elements as aims,∞ntents,structure,etc. Part IV is a summary of the developmental characteristics of BPSC: l.thick political colour is in the value; 2.tradition is valued; 3.aims 缸e shifting to a connection of qualit弘 democracy and equality. 4. emphasis is put On coordination between tradition of prim缸y education and children s development . Part V concludes the experienω, and lesson from the reform of BPSC. Part VI is a thinking Of the problems we are confronted with in chinese present curriculum refOrm,and points Out some inspiration we can get 企om the study of BPSC.
