Study on digital publishing business model of university press
Abstract
With the swift development of information and science of digital technology, publishing industry has experienced revolutionary changes.Humans has entered the time of digital publishing.Traditional
publishing have been challenged greatly. In the aspect of practice,
digital publishing business model is being explored, and many scholars are trying to find out the rules of it. But there is barely perfect answer in the current materials. The university press lacks the investigation of business model. The business model of the University Press value realization system of mechanism, application forms and practice oriented research will be investigated in this paper.
In order to achieve the above goals, this paper studied the basic
theories and frontier researches of digital publishing business model and discussed the opportunities and challenges of university press, so as to show the key point of business model research. By analyzing the digital publishing industry chain elements, the value realization of university press business model was put forward on the four dimensions, i.e., value discovery, value creation, value matching, and value management. Digital publishing business model, the choice of university press, became logical. Then the diversified business model of university press digital publishing was structured based on audience demand angle, business form, channel realization, and profit model. Taking DH university press as an example, the integrity scheme of university press digital publishing business model was constructed in the paper.
