The localities surveyed are Gaolan () () ( 3613?N , 10319E?and Wuwei 37 . 9N? ,102 . 6E?in sp ring wheat regio n and Chang’an 34 . 1N? ,108 . 9?) Ein winter wheat regio n. The result s suggest t hat t he esterase is coded by t wo loci : Est21 and Est22 . Est21 is coded by a plastogene p roducing o nly o ne band t hat is t he fastest o n t he gel amo ng all bands. The Est22 is duplicated loci wit h 8 alleles , namely , a , b , c , d , e , f , g , h , which p roduce altoget her 8 bands in all t he pop ulatio ns and 1 - 4 bands in individual samples. There are 19 zymogram t ypes observed in t he t hree geo2 grap hic pop ulatio ns. Seventeen zymogram t ypes emerge in Chang’an pop ulatio n , but 5 and 4 zymogram types are found respectively in Gaolan and Wuwei pop ulatio ns. ?zymogram type is t he co mmo nest in all t he pop u22 latio ns. The alleles t hat had t he highest f requencies in all t he pop ulatio ns are d , e , g. All 8 alleles at t he Est2 2 were observed in Chang’an pop ulatio n , but o nly total 3 alleles2d , e , g at t he Est22 appeared in Gaolan and ( ) Wuwei pop ulatio ns.
