We introduced the classical multi2specifc interaction in the communities of insect natural enemies in order to draw more attentions of ecologists to the relationship and enhance the development of biological control programs in China. The contents of this paper deal with several parts of intraguild predation , including : its concept , types , affective properties , differences from other interspecific relationships , ubiquity , factors influencing the frequency and results of IGP , chemical regulation materials and the effects of IGP on biological control . Intraguild predation can be divided into two types : unidirectional or symmetric and bi2directional or asymmetric IGP in terms of the benefit statues of the protagonists in the interaction. Many biotic and abiotic factors affect the frequency and outcomes of intraguild predation. It is necessary for us to know well the impacts of IGP on herbivore population. At the same time , we should investigate the influences of multiple natural enemies on the biological control in agroecosystems with IGP theory. Furthermore , we should understand IGP not only on the population level , but also on a larger community context . Key words intraguild predation ,
