Course objective: The course is mainly to help students in hotel related industries express spoken English properly, politely, and professionally. General Course Plan (II) Textbook: Majure, R. Martin, J. (2010). Enjoy your stay – English for the hotel industry. Taipei: Cosmos Culture Ltd. Class Procedure (I) Warm-up: 1. Students are requested to prepare maps or travel brochures in advance and bring them to class. (see handout p.4) 2. Students are grouped to share information about scenic spots and their locations. Language fluency is expected over accuracy. Class Procedure (II) B. Presentation: 1. Students are asked to listen to a conversation for some important details, main ideas, and inferences. (see handout p.1) Q1: Where does the conversation take place? Q2: What does the man need for help? Q3: Where might be the hotel located? Q4: What would you recommend if you were the concierge? Class Procedure (III) B. Presentation: 2. Students are asked to create their favorite dialogue based on the given conversation structure and practice it with a partner. (see handout p.1 p.3) Class Procedure (IV) C. Practice: 1. Directions are introduced through moving around in the classroom as demonstration. (see handout p.2) 2.
