It is conclu ded that the seism ic respon- ses of the arch bridges is contro lled by se ism ic action in the transverse d irection o f the bridges the locat ion at the end and transverse bracings o r sw ay brac ings o f the arch ribs should be regarded as the contro l sect ions in aseism ic design, the largest stress o f these section sm easures up to the safety standards, but the safety m arg in s o f the paralle l arch bridges and double X-style one are not enough, so con stru ctional m easuresm ay be used to ensuring the seis- m ic safety the m a in arch rib s. inc l
