A large amount of animal words with some figurative meanings exist both in English and Chinese, therefore, by combining lexicology and rhetoric, but a few scholars have learned the filed of animal word at abroad ,in 1990s,Kramch’s Language and Culture started to explore the functions which are caused by English idioms; scholars at home often study animal words by their HYPERLINK app:ds:associativeassociative HYPERLINK app:ds:meaningmeanings. This paper is going to analyze the English and Chinese animal words that we often used by the method of HYPERLINK app:ds:comparativecomparative HYPERLINK app:ds:analysisanalysis and example analysis, the differences in traditions, customs, values, modes of thinking and geographical conditions between English and Chinese can be stand out from the different meanings of animal words between the two languages, after we know and comprehend these differences, the Chinese will study, understand and master English more smoothly and successfully. So awkward situations which are caused by the misunderstandings of culture differences can be avoid, and can make a better study and guide in cross-culture communication and have a positive influence in the western culture further learning for English learners.
