Abstract
With the increment of long distance high—voltage transmission lines and power supply cables,as well the increment of peak to valley ratio of electric network,charging reactive power were surplus in valley period.Owing to this surplus,the voltage of some load—center
substations were too highl additonal losses were increased,electric energy were debased, power equipment’S operating security were endangerd There safe}simple and economic method to solve this problem for generators operating at leading power factor.
This dissertation is about operation at leading power factor for large turbogenerator. It contain chapters.In chapter 1,the importance of this research Was introduced, the art of state of related doraain were summerized.as well the contents of this disser.
ration.In chapter 2f systematic procedure is proposed to derive the variational principle for non-self-adjoint low frequency eddy current problem through adjoint operator and ad- joint function(“the general reaction principle”).The other two approaches proposed to derive the variational principle through“the principle of least action”and lagrange
multipliers(“the general variational principle”).And these three variational methods compared with Galerkin method.In chapter 3.a FEM model using arch.shaped element in cylindrical coordinates to calculate 3D thermal distribution is proposed.And the sult of variational method is compared with Calerkin method.In chapter 4,quasi 3D eddy current electromagnetic field model of end—region of turbogenerator is established. Penalty function is introduced to eddy current governing equation for satis研ng Coulomb gauge automatically.And the corresponding functional’S variation is derived through “the general reaction principle”.Then eddy current electromagnetic distribution of end
