Abstract In recent years, the tense situation has been obviously eased across the Taiwan Straits to help the government realize the political and economic strategic goals, dealing with the changeable situation of the neighboring tense environment in East China Sea and South China Sea and also complying with people ’s wishes across the straits. The Memorandum of Understanding on financial supervision (MOU) and Economic Cooperation Framework Agreement (ECFA) signed between the government of the P.R.China and Taiwan authority establish the political and systematic foundation of the economic development on both sides. The article begins with the research of the general development route of the Taiwanese banks into the Chinese mainland markets consolidating with the management theory of corporate strategy. The article analyzes the initial strategy of the CTBC Bank Co., Ltd. as the largest private owned bank in Taiwan stepping its pace to the Chinese mainland markets, setting the first branch in Shanghai. The article analyzes the corporate strategy in three aspects, the financial environment, the competence of industry and the internal corporate resources, using the vertical analytical way and horizontal comparison way, classical SWOT Model and Porters Five Forces Model.
