Two things will: Team Caterpillar and 6 Sigma. CPS will use and continue to leverage our strong 6 Sigma foundation. 6 Sigma is the way we work at Caterpillar and the way we will execute CPS. CPS will use the 6 Sigma fact-based, data-driven methodology to continually manage (Process Management), improve (DMAIC – Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control) and create (DMEDI – Define, Measure, Explore, Develop, and Implement) processes, products, and services to achieve the strategic goals set out in Vision 2020. Full-time 6 Sigma practitioners, Black Belts and Master Black Belts, will lead 6 Sigma CPS project teams with Green Belts on their teams. Their 6 Sigma project based training will be supplemented with additional CPS training including more in-depth training on Lean tools. CPS ‘belting’ will be used to recognize the additional capability building of Belts (GBs, BBs, MBBs). (Note for facilitator.
