ABSTRACTWith ABSTRACT With the revival of Commentary,the research of it has also become a hot spot．Although the study of news discourse has gradually matured in our country,the Commentary discourse study is relatively weak． The Commentary discourse research is the crossover study of journalism，linguistics and sociology．Previous research of it is mainly based on linguistic．It is still in a low level in the point of journalism．So far, monographs and academic papers about it don’t have much academic value． In this paper,1 will use the methods of discourse analysis described in Norman Faimlough’S book called”Discourse and Social Change¨to analyze the samples of the Commentary that come from”People’S Daily¨and¨China Youth Daily”in the year of 2000 and 2009．I plan to analyze them from the title，words and phrases，rhetoric，discourse，quotations and the structure．And then 1 wi ll describe the Commentary discourse changes and its reasons．I hope this article can make a useful contribution to in—depth study of Commentary discourse． In the environment of social democratization and public opinion freely expressed，Commentary discourse gradually retum to reality and its social responsibility．The Commentary discourse disseminates the value of efficiency as the first．It has changed to be understandable and emphasize direct． People’S participation and the media’S changes make commentary become unprecedented participatory and interactive．The Commentary is changing from being”Mandarin¨to”people”．Personal topics．personal perspective，personal judgments and personal language are increasing gradually in it． The The Commentary discourse’S social responsibility is to promote public enlightenment．As people generally more receptive to visualize and emotional expression，it is an important means of the Commentary discourse to have good communication effects．In the further，Commentary will be reasonable and emotional．But it still has a long way to go． As a highly practical discourse，the features of
