1.1 Significance of the Task
In the second decade of the 21st century, network media has become more and
more important in our daily lives. Online news is now even the main source of
information in people‘s daily life. Among the massive information on the internet, one
of the most eye-catching categories of news is that about newly immerged products and
findings closely related to our lives, such as reports about smart mobile phones of new
styles and healthy problems in modern time. This kind of news is called
daily-life-technology online news (hereinafter referred as DTON) in this report because
the technologies applied on these products are highly related to our everyday life.
Against this background, the translation of DTON online, therefore, has become an
important task for editors and reporters working for online news media. The translator‘s
experience gained during her internship in H gave her the intention to take
DTON as a study object.
As is known to netizens, news about daily-life-technology is constantly reported
online, but a big part of it is sourced from outside of China and is actually translated and
edited from other languages, mainly English, to Chinese. This kind of translated news is
reported by websites of newspaper, so
