You can become more efficient by the types of decisions you are making because of the intellectual knowledge that you have now gathered in and about your workforce. * Improve your internal efficiencies by shifting internal adminstrative processes to self-service. With self-service, the task of performing a transaction is distributed to those who originate the transaction. For example, the task of entering an expense report is performed by the employee actually requesting reimbursement. Using the expense report example, without self-service, the employee already has to do something to submit an expense report. In most cases, he/she fills out a paper form. This completed paper form is then routed to the manager for approval and then routed by the manager to the accounts payable department for entry into the accounts payable system. With self-service, this process is performed much faster and at a much lower cost. Paperwork is reduced or eliminated. Cycle times are cut from weeks to days. Additionally, because originators are more knowledgeable about the transaction than the accounts payable processing staff, with self-servi
