Canonical CorrespondenceA nalysis ( CCA) andOnewayANOVA were used to detect altitudinal patterns of niche and its environmental correlates. The resultswere as follow s: 1) Dom inant plant populations had the biggest niche breadthw ith thickness of humus layer as the resource state, which had the smal lest niche breadth w ith slope as the resource state in Shikengkong; 2) Oneway ANOVA and Tukey sHSD showed niche breadth of dom inant populations did not change significantly in the evergreen broadleaved forest (P 0. 05), while niche breadth of dom inant populations in the coniferous and broadleavedm ixed forest and themontane broad leaved and elfin forest change significantly (P 0. 001); 3) Canonical Correspondence Analysis indicated that as pect and litterfallwere correlated w ith CCA axes 1 and axes 2.
