Teaching Aims and Demands
? The students can consolidate the mastery of the key words and phrases, such as “cut down” , “in danger” and “things made of ivory”. Also, they are able to get the information about elephants from the article.
? The students will be enabled to read the article with different reading strategies, such as skimming and scanning. And they can retell the article with the help of the mind map and
design mind maps to describe the endangered animals.
?The students will be aware of the importance of protecting the elephants as well as other endangered animals ---To love animals is to love ourselves. Its our duty to make the world a better place to live.

VI. Teaching Procedures
Step 1. Lead-in (6 min)
Create a situation in which a friend of mine sends me an e-mail and shares some pictures with me in Thailand;
Tell the students that what interests me most is the elephants;
Show some pictures about elephants---They can do a lot of things;
Ask students to list some things elephants can do and what they think of them. (smart, cute, cool…)
Step 2. Pre-reading Presentation (6 min)
Show a picture of a crying elephant named Eric (as smart as other animals) on the screen and then play a short video about Eric and ask students to guess why the elephant is crying (in danger, lost his ivory…);
Step 3. While-reading Tasks (13 min)
