Teaching aims:
1.learn to talk about people’s appearance,learn the description words.
2.Be able to use the words and language to talk about people’s looks,such as height,weight and hairstyles.
3.Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.
Teaching key points and difficult points:
key words: straight , tall, height, thin, heavy, tonight, little, may, cinema, glasses, later.
Key phrases:short/curly/long/straight hair,(be) of medium height, a little, wear glasses.
3.Target language: Is he short or tall?
-What does your friend look like?
-She/He is.../has....
Teaching steps:
Step1 self-study:writing and reading
直的straight 2.高的tall 3.身高;高度height 4.重的heavy 5.今晚tonight 6.小的little 7.电影院cinema 8.眼镜glasses 9.以后later
Step 2 Presentation:
Teacher (Show a picture of a person): Do you know how to describe the person’s appearance? Can you say it in English? After this lesson, you can do it, and let’s learn together.
2.Show some pictures and point myself or the other students to teach the new words.I have short/long…hair. He is heavy/thin…
3.Let students match the words with the pictures in 1a。
4.Listen,fill in the blanks in 1a and find Amy’s friend.
5.创设情境。用多媒体课件展示图片让学生练习描述人物的外貌特征。
Step 3 Work on 2a-2c
1.让学生听录音,回答2a中的问题。
2.让学生再认真听一遍录音,完成2b中的表格。
3.让学生两人一组完成2c,一人就2b表格中出现的三个人物任选一个提问让另一人回答。
Step 4 Work on 2d
1.学生自读对话,回答下面的问题。
(1)Who is going to the movie with Mike?
(2)What color is Mike’s friend’s hair?
(3)Is Mike’s friend short or tall?
2.学生大声朗读2d对话,读熟后与同伴结对练习,分角色表演对话。
3.创设情景,让学生描述自己的父母、同学。

1.What does/do+主语+look like?
What does/do+主语+look like?的意思是“……长什么样?”用来询问某人的外貌特征。一般通过“主语+be+描述人物外貌特征的形容词”或“主语+have/has+名词(名词前可以有多个形容词修饰)”两种结构形式进行回答。
例句:—What does your friend look like?你的朋友长什么样?
—He is short and thin.他又矮又瘦。
