黑龙江大学硕士学位论文Abstract 黑龙江大学硕士学位论文 Abstract As an African American black woman writer,Tonl Merrison concerns more about the destiny of the women of her own race，because she knows quite well that she is closely linked with those black females of her race．To care about the destiny of those black women is to express the great concem for herself．African Americans have been perplexed by the racism under the social and historical setting．Black women show their different attitudes towards life and value when facing the oppression from both of the white racists and black men．Some black women have lost themselves and simultaneously discarded and cut off the relationship with their own race；without an enterprising spirit，some have been retaining their traditions all the time,receiving and beating it resignedly,keeping on living by giving up their dignity．They have become the mouthpieces oftradition． However,history proves that where there is oppression there is rebellion．Those black women who have been oppressed for long bravely stand up．They become pioneers ofthose rebelling women and walk at the front oftheir compatriots．They try to win themselves and achieve their self-fulfillment even by losing their own lives． With her exquisite style of writing and from the viewpoint of a woman，Toni Morrison deeply penetrates and probes into those who have been characterized by tradition and rebellion．By exploring the relationship with the whites，black males and black communities，Morrison points out that black women cannot simply follow the tradition blindl y’or discard their selfhood，or deviate from their own cultural root，or abnegate their own national tradition，All ofthese are wrong and no doubt leading to the same resuIt——a failing life． While dealing with the problem of people’S subsistence from the point of view of existentialism，Morrison points out the way for those black women--only with the help 英文摘要of 英文摘要 of or reliance on the traditional culture can the self-fulfillment b
