AbstractsThe Abstracts The semi—arid area of middle Shanxi province is the main area for arid COrn production．Choose the optimum varieties，illuminate the altimdc effect during oorn’s life。 and apply valid cultural methods are the important research facts of high yield oorn culture． This research was carried in Shouyang County,Shanxi province，which iS the representative of semi—arid area．At the same time，some accessorial experiments were carried in Zhangye city,Gansu province．The main research including differentiate the maturing time，the altitude effect during corn’s life，and the cultural system of water, fertilizer and heat collecting for high yield com．The main conclusions as follows： 1．Choose the optimum corn varieties。ascertain the differentiated measurement index． The research illuminated that the plant leaves number Was the steady index for differentiated measurement which Was easy to get．The whole life days and the accumul撕ve temperature above 0℃during life arc also the differentiated measurement index．By these three indexes，systematic cluster analysis was applied to divide the corn varieties for five types：very earlier maturing type，earlier maturing type，middle earlier and midge maturing type，later maturing type．In the middle area of Shanxi province， especially in Shouyang County,the middle earlier and middle maturing type were the better choice．Some earlier maturing type can be cultured in high cold field,or fill up the empty seedling．It should be pay more attention on the difference of lights and temperature characteristic after decided the best corn variety． 2．The geographical changes effect tO COrn’S life There are no systemic researches about the geographical changes effect on corn’S growth and developed．To the altitude effect．this research indicated that the corn’s life days will prolonged with the altitude upward．Their relation was significant positive correlation．n忙 period of vegetation growth with the altitude Was also positive correlation，but the p
