Help them master the structure Ⅳ. Teaching procedures Step1. Warming-up and revision Greeting the Ss, and ask We have many new teachers this term, can you tell me who they are. What does he /she look like? 2. When they describe their new teachers, collect some adjectives on the blackboard. Then ask them to review their comparatives tall- taller long - longer heavy- heavier big – bigger popular- more popular 3. Review these words and the comparatives with –(i)er and more Step2. Presentation Show them some pictures and ask students to describe them T: ---Who is he? S: ---He is Liu Xiang T: ---What does he /she look like? S: ---He is tall T:---And who is this man ? S: ---He is Pan Changjiang T: ---What does he look like? S: ---He is a little short. T: --- So, we can say : Liu Xiang is taller than Pan Changjiang or Changjiang is shorter than Liu Xiang At the same time, the teacher write down the words they used on the blackboard: tall, short , taller, shorter Prepare more pictures to ask them in order that they can use more words to describe people : smart(er) long(er) , heavy, heavier, lazy ,lazier, (more)outgoing , (more) serious . In this part, students are expected to review the words and know the basic structure by reading the sentences again and again.
