Lead in 1. Show some pictures of famous cartoons. Ask Ss: Do you know them? Do you like them? And we call them “cartoons”. 2. Let’s enjoy a short video about cartoons. Ⅱ. Warming up (2a) Discuss with your partner about the following questions: 1. Do you like to watch cartoons? 2. What is your favorite cartoon? 3. Why do you like it? If you know the answer, stand up and answer as quickly as possible. Ⅲ. Introduction of Mickey 1. Welcome Mickey and Minnie visiting Jiade International School. 2. Mickey introduces himself and Minnie. 3. Let’s learn more about Mickey. Ⅳ. 2b (Reading) 1. Prediction: Predict the main idea of the passage from the title, picture, the first or the last paragraph. Then choose the main idea of the passage. 2. Skimming: Skim to find out the main idea of each paragraph by finding the key words or sentences. Then match the main idea of each paragraph. 3. Scanning: Scan to complete the time line by finding the very thing or time. Then finish the time line. 4. Detail-reading: Read the passage carefully to find out the details by marking them to better understand the passage. Then read each paragraph carefully and answer questions. Ⅴ.
