Unit 7 What’s the highest mountain in the world?
Period1(1a-1c)
一.教材分析 :
1a in this period introduces Ss to the unit goal: talk about geography and nature, sets the scene and increase Ss’ vocabulary and introduce the target language. The function of it is to develop students’ abilities in reading, speaking and writing. 1b, 2a and 2b provide Ss with listening practice with the target language. 1c and 2c give them the opportunity to use the target language in conversations.

(1) To learn new words: square, meter, deep, desert, population, Asia, feel, tour, tour, tourist and wall.
(2) Target language:
—What’s the highest mountain in the world? —Qomolangma.
(3) To learn to talk about geography and nature, for example, The Sahara is about 9,600,000 square kilometers in size.

教学过程:
Step 1 : Greeting and leading in
Greet the whole class as usual.
Ask some questions related to Unit 7, such as, What’s the highest
mountain in the world? How high is it?
Write down some numbers on the blackboard.
Step 2 Word Study
Show the new words on 50 on the blackboard and teach them, especially the pronunciation. The words are square, meter, deep, desert, population, Asia, feel, tour, tour, tourist and wall.
