Unit 9 Can you come to my party?

Teaching aims:
1 Master the new words and phrases.
2 Learn how to make invitations, decline invitations and accept invitations.
3 Lead the students to be able to put the key sentence patterns into daily use.
Teaching important and key points:
1 Master the key sentence patterns.
2 Put the key sentence patterns into daily use.
Teaching aids:
Multimedia, the tape recorder and some pictures.
Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Greeting
Greet the students as usual.
Step 2 Lead in
Ask the students some questions.
--can you swim?
--Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
--Can you play football?
--Yes, I can. / No, I can’t.
Step 3 Presentation
Present the students the language goals in this period. Then show them some pictures about making invitations. Ask them to make small dialogues using the information given.
Step 4 Practice
Lead the students to look at the big picture on Page 65 and give them three minutes to finish task 1a then check the answer together.
Step 5 Listening
Paly the tape recorder for the students to listen. For the first time, the students just listen. For the second time, ask the students to finish task 1b. Then listen again, ask some students to show their answers to the whole class. Finally check the answer together.
Step 6 Group-work
Divide the students into several groups and give them five minutes to make conversations. I will walk around the class to find if the students need any help. Then ask some groups to show their conversations.
Step 7 Feedback
Lead the students to do some exercises to check whether they master the key phrases and the key sentences patterns.
Step 8 Homework
1 Recite the new words in this period.
2 Make their own conversations according the model in 1c.
