Teaching Procedures
Step 1 Warming-up
sing a song about comparatives and superlatives The more we get together.
Let’s act like animals and guess what they are.
Talk about animals: What animals do you like best? Why?
Step 2 Presentation: Let’s compare.
1. The adult elephant:3000 kilos The baby elephant: 500 kilos
The adult elephant weighs six times heavier than the baby elephant.
2. the baby panda:one year old the adult panda : 37 years old
The adult panda is many times older than the baby panda.
3.Describe the two animals.
Words learning
1a.Compare facts about these two animals. Using the language in the box to help you make sentences.
Example sentence:The elephant weighs many times more than you panda. (200 cm taller/shorter, weigh much more/less, eat much more/less, eat many times more)
Step 3 Listening(1b,1c)
1.Learn something about baby pandas.
1. Play the tape for students to listen and check the numbers they hear.
2. Listen again and complete the sentences in 1c.
3. Ask students to read the sentences in 1c.
Students make sentences according to 1b and 1c as many as possible.
