教学过程:
I.Warming up.
Teacher shows the picture in PPT to students, making them talk about what people were doing when the rainstorm came with partners.
II. Presentation.
work on 1a and 1b:
pair work—talk about the people in each picture.
“where were you when the rainstorm came?”
“what were you doing when the rainstorm came?”
speaking:
pair work-- talk about the people in each picture.
“what was the girl/boy/woman/man doing at the time of the rainstorm?”
listening:
Listen for the first time and try to number the pictures from 1 to 5.
Listen for the second time and try to fill in the blanks in each picture.
Retell the story of the unlucky boy with partners.
Small summary.
The simple usage of past progressive tense:
A: What were you/they doing when the rainstorm came ?
(What were you doing at the time of the rainstorm ?)
B: I/He/She was walking home.
They were walking home.
III. Summary.
Teacher gives summary to the new tense and writes down the phrases in this lesson so that students can take notes down,
